Simpson held its only lead of the game at 5-2 on a 3-pointer by Elijah Knox with 17:06 to play in the first half, but sophomore Andrew Wirth (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) let that lead stand for only :18, as he hit his first 3-pointer of the game to tie it with 16:48 left in the half.  The trey by Wirth was the start of a 13-0 Kohawk run over the next 2:36.  Freshman JT Vonderhaar (Bettendorf, Iowa/Assumption) hit a jumper in the lane with 6:12 left in the opening half, giving Coe a 35-20 lead before Zach Barragan ignited a 9-0 run by the Storm in the next 1:34.  Barragan scored seven of the nine points in the run.

A free throw by Cornelius Mosby with 18:27 to play cut Coe's lead to 48-41, but it was all Kohawks from that point on.  Senior Kevin Gaster (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) hit back-to-back baskets, starting a 9-0 Coe run to take a 16 point lead with 15:45 to play.  Drew Bentley then hit three-straight treys for the Storm, as the lead was cut to nine with 14:21 to play.

Junior David Mataloni (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) hit a jumper with 13:59 to play, sparking Coe's 18-3 run to put the game away.  A free throw by junior Nathan Joens (Swisher, Iowa/Xavier) gave Coe an 84-56 lead with 6:16 to play, its largest lead of the game.  Following the free throw, Simpson went on a 19-6 run to close the game, including scoring the final 11 points.  Coe was held without a field goal in the final 4:09 of the game.

Mataloni led six Kohawks in double figures with 18 points.  Wirth tied a career-high with 17 points, while junior Garrett Cross (Spring Grove, Minn./Spring Grove) added 13 points.  Junior Seth Light (Carlisle, Iowa/Carlisle) had 12 points, while Joens and senior Jake Raney (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) added 10 points apiece.  It was a career-high for Joens.
