DUBUQUE, Iowa - Senior Marc Gorenstein (Longmont, Colo./Silver Creek) scored Coe's first basket of the game to give the Kohawks the only lead they needed in an 83-77 win over the University of Dubuque Wednesday night.

It was the first Iowa Conference win of the year for the Kohawks, as they snapped a seven-game losing streak.

Senior Kevin Dux (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) added a 3-point basket :32 later as Coe extended its lead to five points to open the game. The Kohawks later used a 9-2 run to extend their lead into double-digits for the first time in the game.

With 18:31 to play, sophomore Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) hit a 3-point basket that sparked a 14-3 Coe run over the next 4:01. Coe would later extend its lead to 19 points on a pair of free throws by Dux. With 10:05 to play, Dubuque made a run at the Kohawks, scoring 23 of the next 32 points to cut the lead to five with 2:51 remaining.

The Kohawks sealed the win by hitting 13 free throws in the final 2:51 of the game. Coe connected on 33-of-46 free throws in the game. Coe also connected on 68 percent of their field goals, just the second time this year they have hit over 50 percent. The Spartans scored 26 points off 23 Kohawk turnovers.

Tatman led the Kohawks with 20 points and four assists. Tyler Blum led all scorers with 30 points for Dubuque, with 10 of those points coming in the final :56 of the game. Dux and junior Cass Behrens (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) added 13 and 14 points respectively. Dux also added a team-high three steals. Sophomore Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) added 14 points off the bench.

The Kohawks will play their fourth and final game of the week on Saturday, as they host Central. The Dutch came away with a 79-65 overtime win over the Kohawks last Saturday.
