DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Coe College baseball team scored nine runs on 12 hits in the final two innings Friday night, as they beat Loras 15-6 in an Iowa Conference nine-inning game.  Six Kohawks finished with multiple hits in the victory.

Coe scored the first runs of the game in the top of the fourth inning.  Senior Tyler Leadley (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) walked to start the inning.  Senior Spencer Sobba (Kansas City, Mo./St. Pius X) then homered to left field to give Coe the early 2-0 lead.  The home run was the second of Sobba's career.

The Kohawks added two more runs in the fifth inning, extending the lead to 4-0.  With two outs, senior Sean Raisch (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) was hit by a pitch.  Leadley then tripled down the right field line, plating Raisch.  Leadley then scored Coe's fourth run on a balk.
Loras scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Kohawks had an answer in the sixth to keep the lead.  With two outs, senior Scott DeAngelis (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) reached on an error by the third baseman.  Senior Brennan Melloy (Bernard, Iowa/Cascade) singled to center field, bringing in DeAngelis.
With two outs in the seventh inning, senior John Delaplane (Downers Grove, Ill./North) doubled down the right field line.  After moving to third on a wild pitch, Delaplane scored as junior JD Hunter (Iowa City, Iowa/Regina) reached on a throwing error by the second baseman.
The Duhawks scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, cutting Coe's lead to 6-5.  It was all Kohawks after that, as they scored six runs on seven hits in the top of the eighth inning.  With one out, Coe got three-straight singles from junior Nick Stein (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon), senior Adam Nisenson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) and Raisch to load the bases.  Leadley and Sobba then made it five-straight singles, as two more runs scored.  Delaplane was walked to bring in another run before Leadley scored on a wild pitch.  With two outs, DeAngelis doubled down the right field line to bring in Delaplane and Sobba for the final two runs of the inning.
Loras opened the eighth inning with back-to-back singles by DeSousa and Walker, with DeSousa advancing to third on Walker's single.  The Duhawk threat ended when Canvello flew out to Leadley in right field, as Leadley threw out DeSousa at the plate for the double play.

The Kohawk bats stayed hot in the top of the ninth as Stein doubled to left center to start the inning before moving to third on a single to left field by Nisenson.  With two outs, Sobba homered for the second time in the game, driving in Nisenson and Stein.

Melloy, Leadley and Sobba led the Kohawks with three hits apiece, while Stein, Nisenson and Delaplane had two hits each.  Leadley and Sobba scored three times each, with Stein, Nisenson, Raisch and Delaplane each crossing the plate twice.  Sobba drove in six runs while DeAngelis and Leadley both brought in two.

Junior Wade Morris (Conrad, Iowa/BCLUW) moved to 5-1 on the year on the hill with the victory.  In 5 2-3 innings pitched, Morris struck out two while giving up three earned runs on seven hits.  Freshman AJ Reuter (Monticello, Iowa/Monticello) picked up his first career save in three and a third innings pitched.  He struck out one while giving up six earned runs on eight hits.

The two teams will return to action on Saturday, squaring off in a doubleheader at 11 a.m. in Dubuque.
