GRINNELL, Iowa - The Coe women's basketbal team jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first 4:56 of the game, but it was the Kohawks second half shooting that helped them pull away for a 63-51 win over Grinnell. The win improved the Kohawks to 2-0 overall, as they won the Grinnell Invitational.

Freshman Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) and sophomore Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Pioneers quickly answered the Kohawks 13-0 run with a 13-0 run of their own. A jumper by Megan Huey tied the game with 11:56 to play in the first half. Coe regained the lead on a jumper by Devvin Rolson (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) with 10:46 to play in the first half, but the Pioneers turned it on, as they closed the half on an 11-5 run to close the half. Neither team scored from Rolston's basket until Sara Hoffman hit a free throw with 5:38 left in the opening period.

Just like the first half, the Kohawks jumped on the Pioneers early in the second half. Waskow hit a jumper in the paint with 18:31 to play that sparked a 14-0 run for the Kohawks. The Pioneers cut the lead to one with 4:33 to play, but the Kohawks were able to hold on as they then went on a 10-0 run to put the game away.

Sophomore Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) nearly missed a triple-double, as she finished with nine rebounds, nine points and 10 blocked shots. Anciaux led the way for the Kohawks with a team-high 15 points. She also added six assists and three steals.

Waskow and junior Brittany Norris (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) both added 14 points for the Kohawks. Norris also had seven rebounds.

The Kohawks return to action on Friday as they travel to St. Louis, Mo. for the Maryville Tournament. Coe will face host Maryville University in the opening round at 6 p.m.
