CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - After winning last weekend's Iowa Conference Tournament, the Coe College men's tennis team will participate in this weekend's NCAA Tournament. This will be the eighth appearance in the tournament for the Kohawks.
After defeating Luther 5-4 in the championship match last weekend, Coe earned the Iowa Conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. The Kohawks were selected to participate in the Wisconsin-Whitewater Regional. Coe will face Grinnell in the opening round at 10 a.m. on Friday. This will be the second time they have faced the Pioneers this season, as Grinnell beat Coe 5-4 earlier in the season.
Coe is one of four teams ranked in the ITA Top 30 Poll in the regional. Washington University in St. Louis is ranked 15th, while Gustavus is ranked 26th. Coe and Wisconsin-Whitewater were tied for 30th in the last poll. In the regional poll, Washington University in St. Louis is second, while Gustavus is fourth. Wisconsin-Whitewater is ranked ninth, while Coe is 13th and Grinnell is 14th.
The Kohawks have two singles players ranked in the top 26 of the region. Freshman Noah Sprinkel (Minneapolis, Minn./South) is 15th, while senior Victor Khristenko (Orel, Russia) is ranked 26th.
