CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - For the second-straight Saturday, the Coe men's basketball team couldn't overcome the big run by Central.  A 15-3 run early by the Dutch led to a 76-69 win for Central.
The Kohawks used a free throw by senior Marc Gorenstein (Longmont, Colo./Silver Creek) and a 3-point basket by senior Kevin Dux (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) to take a 5-3 lead, but it was the 15-3 run by Central that gave the Dutch the lead for good.  Dux hit his second of five 3-point baskets during the run.  Coe counted with an 8-0 run over the next :52 to cut the lead to two, but couldn't get any closer the rest of the way.

The Dutch once again countered with a big run.  Dux again was the only player to score for the Kohawks in a 14-3 run by the Dutch that extended their lead to 13 with 7:08 to play in the first half.  The run gave the Dutch a double-digit lead until the final :34 of the game.

Trailing by 17 with 1:50 remaining, the Kohawks went on a 16-6 run to cut the lead to single-digits, but it was too little, too late as they dropped their eighth IIAC game of the year.  Freshman Jordan Cunningham (Mankato, Minn./East) had five points in the run for the Kohawks.

Dux led the Kohawks with 17 points.  Sophomore Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) was the only other Kohawk to score in double figures, as he added 12 points in the loss.  Senior Christian Parent (Littleton, Colo./Littleton) and junior Cass Behrens (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) each had a team-high three assists.  Gorenstein finished with a team-high two steals, while sophomore Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) had a team-high six rebounds off the bench.

Coe will return to action on Wednesday as they host Buena Vista.  The Kohawks will look to avenge an 81-65 loss from Dec. 6. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Eby Fieldhouse.
