CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A 13-3 Buena Vista run with 8:01 to play was the difference in the Beavers 72-68 win over the Kohawks Wednesday night at Eby Fieldhouse.  Coe held its final lead on a 3-point basket by sophomore Tara Carsner (Marion, Iowa/Marion) with 8:16 to play.
The Kohawks jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first 2:13 of the game, with sophomore Brittany Norris (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) scoring all the points for Coe.  The Kohawks went on to extend their lead to 13, the largest of the game for either team, with 12:46 to play in the opening half thanks to a 10-2 run.

The Beavers wouldn't go away easily, as the Kohawks have learned in their prior meetings with Buena Vista.  A 22-11 run by Buena Vista cut the Kohawk lead to two before sophomore Devvin Rolston (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) hit a fade-away jumper in the paint as time expired in the first half to put the Kohawks back up four.  Sophomore Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) tallied eight rebounds in the opening frame, while sophomore Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) dished eight assists.  Norris finished the half with 12 points.

A 6-2 run by the Beavers early in the second half tied the game for the first time.  After two more ties, the Beavers went on an 8-4 run to take their first lead of the game on a Margo Muhlbauer layup with 8:59 to play.  Carsner hit a trey on the Kohawks next possession to regain the lead, but it would be the final time of the night the Kohawks were in front.

With 8:01 to play, Buena Vista went on a 13-3 run to take a commanding 66-58 lead.  Coe used a 6-0 run to cut the lead to two, but couldn't come any closer the rest of the way.

Free throws were a difference in the game, as Buena Vista shot 17-of-20 from the charity stripe, compared to the 2-for-6 for the Kohawks.  Rolston was the only Kohawk to attempt a free throw in the game.  Neither team could get hot from downtown late in the game, as Coe hit 3-of-6 3-point attempts in the first half, but fell to just 3-of-10 3-point shooting in the second frame.

Norris finished with 16 points, while Rolston dropped in 12.  Lincoln and senior Calie Sobaski (Iowa City, Iowa/City) each added 10 from the starting lineup.  Lincoln also had a game-high 14 rebounds and two steals.  Anciaux finished with 11 assists.

Coe will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Dubuque to face Loras.  Tipoff with the Duhawks is set for 2 p.m.
