
SAINT PETER, Minn. - Three doubles teams advanced to the third round, while Coe advanced one singles player to the quarterfinals of the ITA Midwest Regional.
Sophomore Noah Sprinkel (Minneapolis, Minn./South) advanced to Saturday's quarterfinals before being eliminated. Sprinkel, seeded fourth in the tournament, earned a first round bye before defeating Brian Klein of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In the third round, Sprinkel beat 17th-seeded Joey MacGibbon of Gustavus 6-3, 6-4. Sprinkel advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Grinnell's Elliot Czarnecki, seeded 15th in the bracket. Sprinkel was eliminated by ninth-seeded Juan Luis Chu of Gustavus 7-6, 6-3.
Freshman Riley Galbraith (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy), seeded 16th, beat Concordia-Moorhead's Nick Moe 6-2, 6-1 in the first round. In the second round, he beat College of St. Scholastica's Dylan Kelly 6-0, 6-0. 17th-seeded Jake Humphrey's beat Galbraith 6-7, 7-5, 10-7 in the third round.
Seeded 17th, Jeff Damisch (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) beat Bethel's Reggie Ronning 7-5, 7-5 in the first round before falling to Lawrence's Cooper Smith in the second round. Senior Curtis Newman (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny), also seeded 17th, earned win's over Luther's Torstein Jystad and Wartburg's Blayne Willadsen before falling 6-2, 6-0 to Wisconsin-Whitewater's 12th-seeded Andy McGlashen in the third round.
Junior Michael Janssen (Oshkosh, Wis./Loudres) beat Wartburg's Eric Hilpert in the first round and beat Luther's Quinn Foley 4-6, 6-0, 10-7 in the second round. Top-seeded Amrik Donkena of Gustavus beat Janssen 6-1, 6-3 in the third round. Junior Michael Woolf (Palantine, Ill./Palantine) earned a 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 win over Edgewood's Austin Papenthien in the first round before falling to 17th-seeded Tyler Johnson of Gustavus.
Freshman Yasushi Inoue (Japan) beat Carthage's Ryan Jump 6-1, 6-0 in the first round before falling 6-4, 6-2 to fifth-seeded Ben Shklyar of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the second round. Freshman Zack Decker (Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake) beat Wisconsin-LaCrosse's Travis Murphy in the first round before losing to 10th-seeded Ramesh Karki of Luther in the second round.
Freshman Ryan Hickman (Hutchinson, Kan./Hutchinson) dropped a 4-6, 6-2, 10-3 match to 11th-seeded Andrew Bayless of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the first round. Senior Sean Stokstad (Ramstein, Germany/Ramstein) fell 6-3, 6-2 to Gustavus' Logan Peterson in the first round.
In the doubles first round, Sprinkel and Newman, seeded fourth, beat Humphreys and Kevin Friend of Wisconsin-Whitewater 8-2. In the second round, they beat Florent Marco and Zach Katz of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-2. Coe advanced to the quarterfinals with an 8-4 win over Paul Cooper and Andrew Hwang of Carleton. Seventh-seeded Bayliss and Ben Shklyar ended Coe's run with an 8-5 win in the quarterfinals.
Stokstad and Janssen beat Concordia's Peter Dahlberg and Nick Moe 8-1 in the first round. In the second round, they defeated ninth-seeded Ryan Vande Linde and Joe Meier of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-3. Top-seeded Donkena and Mya Smith-Dennis ended Stokstad and Janssen's run with an 8-4 loss in the quarterfinals.
Woolf and Damisch earned a first round win over Eric Schnedier and Dylan Teautschman of Carroll 8-3. In the second round, they defeated fifth-seeded Jeff Lotz and Alex Boomgarden of Carthage 8-6. Ninth-seeded Nick Mozena and James Ayer of Luther downed the Kohawk duo 8-6 in the third round.
The ITA Midwest Regional wraps up Coe's fall season. The Kohawks return to action Feb. 2, as they host Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Principia at the Clark Racquet Center.
