DUBUQUE, Iowa - For the second time in as many weeks, the Coe men's basketball team is leaving the city of Dubuque with a victory.  This time it was a 62-55 win over defending Iowa Conference Tournament Champion Loras.
The win came on a day when Loras College honored many of their greatest basketball players ever during the 100th anniversary of the sport at the school.  It was the second Iowa Conference win of the season for the Kohawks, who are now back in the race for an Iowa Conference Tournament berth.

Loras' Brian Centella hit a pair of free throws :12 into the game, but it was the 8-0 Kohawk run from there that set the tone for the game.  The Duhawks would only hold one more lead for the rest of the game, with that coming at the 3:03 mark of the first half, as the Duhawks went on an 8-2 run.  Coe closed the final 2:28 of the first half on a 9-4 run, with five points, including a jumper in the lane with :06 left, by senior Kevin Dux (Boulder, Colo./Fairview).

The Duhawks put the pressure on the Kohawks midway through the second half, as Ricky Kolze went on a 5-0 run of his own to make it a one point game with 14:31 to play.  A 7-1 run by the Kohawks extended their lead back to seven with 9:45 to play.

An 11-4 run by the Duhawks tied the game at 53 with 3:59 to play, but it would be all Kohawks down the stretch.  A 9-2 Kohawk run over the final 3:58 sealed the win for the Kohawks.  With :11 to play, junior Cass Behrens (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) hit a jumper in the lane while getting fouled.  His free throw made it a five point game, which was out of reach for the Duhawks.

Sophomores Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) and Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) led the Kohawks with 10 points apiece.  The Kohawks had a balanced scoring attack, with three other Kohawks scoring at least eight points.  Dux and senior Marc Gorenstein (Longmont, Colo./Silver Creek) each added eight points, while freshman Kevin Gaster (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) added nine points.

Gorenstein also added a game-high eight rebounds.  Behrens had a game-high three assists while Tatman added a game-high three steals.

The Kohawks return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Linn County rival Cornell.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Mount Vernon.
