CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - For the second time in school history, Coe College is set to host a first round NCAA Division III Football Playoff game. The 10th-ranked Kohawks will host 17th-ranked Elmhurst on Saturday at Noon.
The appearance is the eighth overall for the Kohawks and the third in the last four years. This will be the fourth game Head Coach Steve Staker has coached in the playoffs, the most by any coach in school history. Coe is 2-7 all-time in the playoffs, having lost 31-21 to Wheaton in 2010 in the last appearance. This is the first appearance in the postseason for Elmhurst.
Coe completed its 10th undefeated season in school history on Saturday, as it won its 11th-straight game dating back to last season. Elmhurst enters the game 9-1, having won its last six games of the year. Coe won the Iowa Conference Championship, while Elmhurst was in a three-way tie for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin title.
The Kohawks and Bluejays share a common opponent in Loras. Elmhurst faced the Duhawks in the season opener, defeating Loras 36-0 in Dubuque. Coe beat Loras 69-7 earlier this year.
Tickets for the 12 p.m. game on Saturday, Nov. 17, can be purchased at the gate. Adults will be $10, while students will be $5. No passes will be accepted.
