MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - In the lowest scoring game in the history of the 60-game series between Coe and Cornell, the Kohawks came out on top Wednesday night.  Coe came away with a 46-34 win, which was the lowest point total for the winning team in series history.
The Kohawks opened the game on a 9-2 run in the first 2:40, but things slowed down from their for the Kohawks.  The Rams answered with a 6-0 run over the next 3:29 to cut the lead to one, but Coe bounced back with a 9-0 run over the next 2:55 to put the lead into double digits.  Cornell ended the final 2:56 of the first half on a 9-0 run to tie the game at the break.
   
The Rams scored the first points of the second half, but it was the 19-5 run over the next 14:26 that put the game away for the Kohawks.  After Cornell's first basket, Coe used a 10-0 run over the next 8:59 to seal the win.
 
Sophomore Brittany Norris (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) led the Kohawks with a game-high 16 points and seven rebounds.  Sophomores Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) and Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) added nine points, while senior Calie Sobaski (Iowa City, Iowa/City) added eight points.
 
Sobaski had a game-high three assists while Norris and Lincoln added three and two blocks respectively.  Norris also added three steals.
 
As a team the Kohawks shot 46 percent in the second half, compared to the 16 percent for the Rams.  Coe held the Rams to just 23 percent shooting for the game.  Coe won the game in the paint, as they outscored the Rams 26-8.  They also held an 18-4 advantage on points off turnovers.
 
The Kohawks return to action on Saturday as they face Luther.  Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Eby Fieldhouse.
