CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Sophomore Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) picked the perfect time to hit his first field goal of the game Saturday.  His jumper in the lane as the buzzer sounded, hit the bottom of the net to give the Kohawks a 60-58 win over Luther.
Tatman, the teams leading scorer at 13.0 points per game coming in, was 0-for-5 from the field until the final shot.  He had connected on 6-for-6 shooting from the free throw line during the game.  He finished with eight points.

Neither team could get a huge advantage over the other in any aspect of the game throughout.  Luther used a 5-0 run with 10:24 to play to take its largest lead of the game at 12.  The Kohawks quickly answered back with an 8-0 run.  Coe would later take its first lead after a 7-0 run with 1:41 to play on a pair of free throws by Tatman.  It was the first Kohawk lead since freshman Kevin Gaster (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) hit a 3-point basket with 9:52 to play in the first half.

With :16 to play, sophomore Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) nailed a pair of free throws to give the Kohawks a one point lead.  It was the final points of the night for Borngraeber, who finished with a career-high 18 points to lead all scorers.  With :08 to play, Dane Larson was fouled by Coe's Kevin Dux (Boulder, Colo./Fairview).  Larson hit the first of two free throws to tie the game.  He missed the second shot, but a rebound was tipped out and recovered by Ryan Kuhn, although his pass to Nnamdi Okolue resulted in an over and back call, giving the Kohawks the bal at halfcout with :05 remaining.

Senior Christian Parent (Littleton, Colo./Littleton) inbounded the ball to Tatman, who drove to the lane, spun and faded away for the game-winning basket.  The win keeps the Kohawks hopes of an Iowa Conference Tournament berth alive.

Borngraeber and Tatman combined for a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line, while the rest of the team struggled, shooting just 4-for-13.  The Norse connected on 6-of-8 free throw attempts.  Dux added seven points on two 3-point baskets, while junior Cass Behrens (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) added a game-high four assists.

The Kohawks return to action on Saturday, as they host the University of Dubuque.  It will be the final home game for seniors Dux, Parent and Marc Gorenstein (Longmont, Colo./Silver Creek).  Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
