CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe men's tennis team improved to 6-0 on the year with 9-0 wins over Wisconsin-La Crosse and St. Ambrose. They also improved to 54-0 in singles and doubles matches played in dual meets.
Coe won all but one match in straight sets as freshman
Ryan King (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette),
Sam Zerbib (Phoenix, Ariz./Arcadia) and
Scott Stegemann (Davenport, Iowa/Central) all finished 4-0 on the day.
Joey Lankelma (Marshalltown, Iowa/Marshalltown) and
Greg Janssen (Oshkosh, Wis./West) earned two wins at number three doubles. Lankelma and Janssen each earned wins at two and three singles in the match with Wis.-La Crosse.
Zerbib teamed with sophomore
Elliot Rausa (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus) for a pair of wins at number one doubles.
Victor Khristenko (Orel, Russia),
Jonathon Roger (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) and
Dawson Shaver (Wichita, Kan./East) earned wins for the Kohawks at four, five and six singles in the win over St. Ambrose.
The Kohawks return to action next Saturday as they host Wis.-Oshkosh and Dubuque. Matches start at 9 a.m.
