CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team picked up its 15th win of the season on Saturday, as they beat Augustana 8-1 at the Clark Racquet Center.

Coe opened the day with an 8-2 win at number one doubles, as senior Michelle Schupbach (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Columbus) and junior Tai Lucero (Odessa, Texas/Permian) defeated Kim Sawyer and Aileen MacDonald. Schupbach was also a 6-0, 6-2 winner at number two singles, defeating Krista Panko.

At number two doubles, freshman Gia Poynter (Woodlands, Texas/Woodlands College Prep) and freshman Laura Birky (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) downed Panko and Meghan Wethington 8-2. Birky also picked up a 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 win over Emily Kaczmarek at number four singles.

The final doubles win for Coe came at number three, as junior Elizabeth Hoffmann (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) and sophomore Jordan Ferree (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) defeated Miranda Pence and Caitee Margenthaler 8-3. Ferree also earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over Pence at number five singles, while Hoffmann defeated Wethington 6-2, 6-0 at number six singles. Coe's final win of the day came at number three singles, as freshman Amy Sebastian (Mundelein, Ill./Vernon Hills) downed MacDonald 6-0, 6-0.

Coe returns to action on Sunday, as they host NCAA Division I Bradley. The match between the Kohawks and Braves will begin at 12 p.m. at the Clark Racquet Center.
