CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Coe College played 11 different players in the nine matches on Saturday, as the Kohawks won their 19th-straight match 8-1 over Central in Iowa Conference play.
Coe took a 3-0 lead after doubles play. At number one doubles, senior Curtis Newman (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) and sophomore Noah Sprinkel (Minneapolis, Minn./South) won their sixth-straight doubles match, improving to 19-3 together with an 8-4 win over Kyle Freischlag and West Adelman.
At number two doubles, junior Michael Janssen (Oshkosh, Wis./Lourdes) and senior Sean Stokstad (Ramstein, Germany/Ramstein) defeated Tim Kahl and John Seier 8-1. Coe's final doubles victory came from juniors Jeff Damisch (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) and Michael Woolf (Palatine, Ill./Palatine), as they defeated Zane Hendricks and Josh Forst 8-1.
Freshman Riley Galbraith (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) improved to 5-0 at the number one position with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Freischlag. At number two singles, freshman Yasushi Inoue (Japan) defeated Adelman 6-2, 6-2 for his 11th-straight singles victory. Stokstad was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Collin Schares at number three singles.
At number four singles, freshman Geoffrey Brochet (France) won his 14th-straight singles match, downing Kahl 6-0, 6-1. Coe's final victory came at number five, as freshman Zack Decker (Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake) won his ninth-straight match with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 win over Hendricks.
The Kohawks (19-0, 2-0 IIAC) return to action April 6, as they host league rival Luther. The match is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. at the Clark Racquet Center.
