CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team trailed 2-1 after doubles play, but earned three three-set singles victories to defeat Grinnell 7-2 at the Clark Racquet Center.

Coe's lone doubles victory came at number one, as senior Michelle Schupbach (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Columbus) and junior Tai Lucero (Odessa, Texas/Permian) downed Shirlene Luk and Clothilde Thirouin 8-2. Lucero also earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Laura Krull at number one singles, while Schupbach defeated Luk 6-0, 6-4 at number two singles.

At number three singles, freshman Amy Sebastian (Mundelein, Ill./Vernon Hills) defeated Thirouin 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. At number four singles, freshman Laura Birky (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) downed Catherine Fitch 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

The final two Kohawk victories came at number five and six singles. At number five, sophomore Jordan Ferree (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) downed Emma Macdonald 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Hoffmann wrapped up the Kohawk victory with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Emily Groth at number six singles.

Coe (17-3) will wrap up the regular season on Saturday as they host Wisconsin-Whitewater. The match is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at the Clark Racquet Center.
