CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team kicked off the 2013 season with a pair of 9-0 victories over St. Ambrose and Simpson. 

In the opening match, Coe jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Senior Tai Lucero (Odessa, Texas/Permian) and junior Jordan Ferree (Pekin,Ill./Pekin) defeated Heather Matejka and Olivia Lofgren 8-0.  At number two doubles, sophomore Laura Birky (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) and freshman Sarah Lasecki (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) defeated Allie DeRoo and Emily Daniels 8-2. Coe's final doubles win came at number three, as sophomore Amy Sebastian (Mundelein,Ill./Vernon Hills) and sophomore Tamara Washington (Corona, Calif./Norco) defeated Amanda Aronson and Sam Rochkus 8-4. 

Lucero defeated Matejka 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles, whileSebastian beat Lofgren 6-1, 6-2 at number two. Ferree downed DeRoo 6-3, 6-0 at number three, as Birky defeated Daniels 6-2, 6-1 at number four singles. Senior Elizabeth Hoffmann (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Aronson at number five, while sophomore Diannah Watson (Frisco, Texas/Lone Star) defeated Rochkus 6-2, 6-1 at number six. 

Just like the match with the Fighting Bees, the Kohawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles against the Storm. Ferree and Lucero downed Lauren Schemmel and Michelle Hartman 8-1 at number one doubles. At number two, Birky and Lasecki defeated Kelli Ehrhardt and Kelli Greiner 8-2 at number two, while Sebastian andWashington downed Krista Rogers and Danielle Dawson 8-2 at number three. 

At the top singles spot, Sebastian beat Hartman 6-2, 6-1. Ferree defeated Ehrhardt 6-3, 6-2 at number two singles, while Birky downed Greiner 6-0, 6-0 at number three. At number four singles, Hoffmann downed Rogers 6-0, 6-0, as Watson defeated Amber Brevig 6-0, 6-0 at number five. Washington sealed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sidney Griffith at number six singles.
