MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Coe men's cross country team had their best outing of the year, placing ninth of 36 teams at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday. The Kohawks beat Iowa Conference schools Luther and Wartburg, both of which are ranked in the regional top ten.

The Norse finished 11th, while the Knights were 16th.

Senior Brad O'Neil (Stuarts Draft, Vir./Stuarts Draft) had the top finish for the Kohawks, as he placed 15th of 307 runners in 26:09. Sophomore Ryan Schroeder (Byron, Ill./Byron) and freshman Andrew Dewar (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) joined O'Neil in the top 50 with their 34th and 48th place finishes. Schroeder ran a 26:48, while Dewar finished in 27:06.

On the women's side, the Kohawks finished 26th of 36 teams. Sophomore Ashley Schnell (Lincoln, Neb./North Star) finished in 44th place of 497 runners. Schnell finished in a time of 23:58.5.

The next meet for the Kohawks will be the Lamb-Kohawk Invitational on Oct. 11. The meet will be held at Jones Park in Cedar Rapids.
