INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Coe College women's soccer team gave up a late first half goal and an early second half goal, as they dropped a 2-0 decision to Simpson.
In the 40th minute, Rachel Muse put the first goal on the board for the Storm, as she scored unassisted from 15-yards out. Less than three minutes into the second half, Simpson scored the final goal of the match, as Amber Johnson scored on a breakaway down the left side.
Freshman Brenna Winn (Walker, Iowa/North-Linn) led the Kohawks with four shots, including two on goal. Freshman Kelsey Fauser (New Castle, Colo./Coal Ridge), sophomore Allie Wirth (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) and junior Danica Mason (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) all had a shot on goal. Sophomore Kaylee Weems (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Center Point-Urbana) had seven saves.
The Kohawks (3-11-1, 0-5 IIAC) step out of league play for the final time Monday afternoon, as they host Nebraska Wesleyan (7-3-4). Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Clark Field. A link for live video and stats can be found at CoeAthletics.com.
