CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Central Dutch came firing back at the Kohawks Saturday, as they won the weekend series with a pair of wins at Daniels Park. Central won game one 4-1 before winning the nightcap 12-0.
After an 8-2 win over the Dutch on Friday, the Kohawks struggled to plate runners in the final two games of the series. After scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning of game one, the Kohawks went 13 innings without a run. The Kohawks were held without a hit in seven innings Saturday, including the final four of the nightcap.

Scott DeAngelis (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) singled a 1-0 pitch up the middle. Freshman
Adam Nisenson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) moved DeAngelis to second on a sacrifice bunt. Sophomore
Ryan Velvick (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) drove the first pitch to right field to plate DeAngelis for the Kohawks only run of the day.
Velvick finished the first game with two of the Kohawks eight hits. Senior
Ryan Nicholson (Downers Grove, Ill./North) took the loss on the mound, giving up three earned runs in six innings of work. He allowed just four hits, while striking out two and walking five.
The Kohawks couldn't wake the bats up in the nightcap, as they struggled to reach base just three times, with only two hits. Velvick and DeAngelis both recorded hits for Coe, while sophomore
Jeff Wagner (Geneseo, Ill./Geneseo) reached on a walk.
Central tallied three runs in each the fourth and sixth innings before exploding for six runs in the seventh. Junior
Alec Lews (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain) suffered his first loss of the season, giving up six runs, four of which were earned, while striking out nine and walking just one. He also gave up seven hits in 5.2 innings. Sophomore
Kevin Baranowski (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) also gave up six runs, four earned, in just 0.1 innings pitched. Senior
Teren Bladel (Davenport, Iowa/North) pitched the final three outs for the Kohawks. As a team, the Kohawks committed four errors in the nightcap.
Coe will return to action on Wednesday, March 25 as they travel to Iowa City to face the University of Iowa. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Duane Banks Field.
