DUBUQUE, Iowa - After dropping three-straight games, the Coe baseball team was back to its winning ways Friday with a 13-1 win over Dubuque.For the second time this season, the Kohawks won a nine-inning game by the run rule, as Coe used six runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to end the game.

The Kohawks put the first run on the scoreboard with two outs in the first inning.  Junior Ryan Schisler (Morrison, Ill./Morrison) doubled to left field before being plated by sophomore Ryan Velvick's (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) triple to rich center field.  The Spartans scored their only run, unearned, in the bottom of the first inning.

Coe was only able to manage three hits from the second through fifth innings, but still tallied five runs during the stretch.  The Kohawk bats exploded for six runs on seven hits in the sixth inning.  Coe added an insurance run on three hits in the seventh inning.

Five Kohawks tallied two or more hits in the game, including three hits by junior Pat Richmond (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown), Velvick and senior Tyler McAllister (Ursa, Ill./Mendon-Unity).  Schisler and sophomore Jeff Wagner (Geneseo, Ill./Geneseo) added two hits apiece.  Richmond and McAllister both added two RBIs.

Senior Ryan Nicholson (Downers Grove, Ill./North) earned his second win of the year on the mound for the Kohawks.  He threw all seven innings, while giving up just five hits.  He struck out two and walked four.

The Kohawks and Spartans will face each other again Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
