ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - The Coe College women's tennis team kicked off its spring break trip to Florida with a convincing 9-0 win over Concordia-Moorhead Saturday.
At number one doubles, Jordan Ferree (JR/Pekin, Ill.) and Tai Lucero (SR/Odessa, Texas) downed Brittany Glatt and Kaitlyn Davies 8-0. Lucero also earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Glatt at number one singles. At number two doubles, Diannah Watson (SO/Frisco, Texas) and Tamara Washington (SO/Corona, Calif.) defeated Morgan Sawatzke and Jade Haseltine 8-0. Washington also picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sawatzke at number four singles.
Coe's final doubles win came at number three, as Amy Sebastian (SO/Mundelein, Ill.) and Rachel Schaefer (JR/Waterloo, Iowa) downed Taylor Peterson and Rose Reinert 9-7. Schaefer also defeated Celia Peloquin 6-0, 6-0 at number six singles. Laura Birky (SO/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) downed Davies 6-1, 6-3 at number two singles, while Elizabeth Hoffmann (SR/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) defeated Haseltine 6-1, 6-0 at number three singles. The final victory for the Kohawks came from Sarah Lasecki (FR/Cedar Rapids, Iowa), as she downed Reinert 6-4, 6-1 at number five singles.
The Kohawks, ranked 12th in the ITA Central Region, improved to 12-1 on the year. Coe will be back on action on Monday, as they face Evangel University at Lake Cane Park in Orlando. The match is scheduled to being at 11:30 a.m. central time.
