CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Two last second shots by senior Christian Parent (Littleton, Colo./Littleton) and sophomore Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) couldn't fall for the Kohawks, as they dropped a 60-59 overtime decision to Wartburg Saturday at Eby Fieldhouse.

The Knights jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the game's first 1:14, but Coe slowly clawed back into the game.

The Kohawks used an 8-0 run with 10:51 to play in the opening half to take their first lead of the game. Coe led by six with 8:36 to play when the Knights went on a 15-5 run to close the first half. The Kohawks were held to a jumper by freshman Jordan Cunningham (Mankato, Minn./East) and a 3-point basket by senior Kevin Dux (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) during the run.

The Knights increased their lead to nine with 13:00 to play on a 7-0 run, but the Kohawks came back late to send the game to overtime. Cashes Mason used a lay-up with 3:28 to play in regulation to put the Knights up six, but that would be their final points of regulation. Coe ended the half on a 6-0 run on two jumpers by Tatman. Mason rebounded Tatman's missed 3-pointer with :06 to play in regulation. With :01 left, junior Brett Petersen (Gibson City, Ill./Gibson City) blocked a lay-up by Kelly McCarville to send the game to overtime.

Petersen hit a jumper with 4:33 to play in overtime for the Kohawks only field goal of the extra frame. Wartburg went on a 6-0 run during the next two minutes to open the game up, but couldn't put the game away. Dux went to the charity stripe with 1:28 to play and connected on both free throws to cut the lead to two. Petersen connected on 1-of-2 free throw attempts with :59 left to cut the lead to one point. Two last second shots by Parent and Tatman couldn't find the bottom of the net for the Kohawks, resulting in their fourth-straight Iowa Conference loss.

Tatman and Dux were the only two Kohawks in double-figures, finishing with 15 and 11 points respectively. Dux also added a game-high three steals. Freshman Kevin Gaster (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) had a game-high 10 rebounds and four assists.

Coe (4-9, 0-4 IIAC) will return to action on Wednesday as they host Simpson (5-9, 1-4 IIAC). Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Eby Fieldhouse.
