DUBUQUE/PELLA, Iowa - The Coe College men's tennis team took down two Iowa Conference opponents with a split squad on Tuesday. One contingent of Kohawks took down Loras, 9-0, in Dubuque, while another group toppled Central in Pella, 8-1.

Against Central, Coe got wins in all three flights of doubles to take a 3-0 lead. Noah Sprinkel teamed up with Mark Kroll to defeat West Adelman and Tim Kahl, 8-6, at number one doubles. The number two team of Ryan Hickman and Zack Decker won 8-4 over Josh Forst and John Seier, while Alex Bernt and Billy Young overcame Collin Schares and BJ Cunningham by a score of 8-5.

The Kohawks got wins in five of the six singles matches. Sprinkel cruised by Adelman 6-3, 6-0 at number one singles. At number two, Hickman downed Kahl 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, while Bernt was victorious at number three, 6-0, 6-0, over Forst. Zack Decker took down Collin Schares 6-0, 6-2 at number four, and Mark Kroll defeated John Seier 6-1, 6-4 at number five.

In Dubuque, the Kohawks again swept the doubles matches to start the competition. Sean Stokstad and Michael Janssen won 8-5 over the Duhawks' Brian Falvey and Sam Steingraeber. At number two doubles, Alex Klaas a teamed up with Alex Leovic to cruise to an 8-1 win over Jeff Kasel and Neil Kane, while Loras forfeited at number three.

In singles play, Coe breezed through all six flights to seal the shutout. Stokstad downed Falvey 6-1, 6-3 at number one singles, while Janssen defeated Kasel 6-0, 6-0 at number two. The number three match saw Daken Starkenburg pummel Neil Kane 6-0, 6-0, and Jeff Damisch blasted Sam Steingraeber to the tune of a 6-1, 6-1 win. Tyler Wilson was victorious at number five over Jack O'Brien 6-0, 6-1, and the Duhawks forfeited at number six.

Coe improves to 21-4, including a perfect 7-0 in conference play. The Kohawks will return to action this weekend when they travel to Chicago for three matches. They will face University of Chicago and Case Western Reserve on Saturday, before taking on Washington-St. Louis on Sunday.
