CHICAGO, Ill. - Just like the men's team, the Coe College women's tennis team faced some tough competition on Saturday, as they dropped matches to 12th-ranked Chicago and 23rd-ranked Case Western Reserve.

Chicago, ranked 12th in the country and third in the ITA Central Region rankings, defeated the Kohawks 9-0. Chicago's number one singles player, Megan Tang, defeated Tai Lucero (Odessa, Texas/Permian) 6-0, 6-1. Tang is the top-ranked player in the Central Region, while Lucero is ranked 22nd.

Coe's lone win came in a 7-1 loss to Case Western Reserve. At number two doubles, Lucero and Diannah Watson (Frisco, Texas/Lone Star) defeated Michelle Djohan and Jennifer Lowe 9-7. Lucero and Marianne Bonanno, the 17th ranked player in the region, weren't able to finish their match at number one singles after splitting sets 4-6, 7-6.

The Kohawks (16-5) will return to action on Sunday, as they face ninth-ranked Washington University of St. Louis at 2 p.m. in Chicago.
