MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Kohawks used a 13-5 game one win and 8-2 nightcap victory to sweep the season series from rival Cornell Wednesday night.  The Kohawks improved to 8-5 in the Iowa Conference with the wins.The Kohawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on four hits in the first inning.  With the bases loaded, junior Ryan Schisler (Morrison, Ill./Morrison) doubled a 2-1 pitch to left center to plate junior Pat Richmond (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown)and freshman Max Tunning (Iowa City, Iowa/Regina).  With one out, senior Tyler McAllister (Ursa, Ill./Mendon-Unity) hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score sophomore Ryan Velvick (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie).

With one out, sophomore Jeff Wagner (Geneseo, Ill./Geneseo) singled up the middle.  He then moved to third on a double down the left field line by Tunning.  A sacrifice fly by Richmond tallied the third run of the game for the Kohawks.  The Rams added two runs on a walk and error in the bottom of the second, cutting the Kohawks lead to 4-2.

Coe answered right back with four runs in the top of the third inning.  Freshman Adam Nisenson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) singled up the middle to plate Schisler and move McAllister to second.  McAllister scored on a sacrifice bunt attempted by freshman Scott DeAngelis (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton).  Coe added two more runs on back-to-back sacrifice flies by senior Jon Reiner (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) and Wagner.

The Kohawks broke the game open in the fifth inning on three runs and four hits.  Reiner hit another sacrifice fly to score Nisenson before a single by Wagner plated DeAngelis.  A double by Tunning plated Wagner for the Kohawks final run of the inning.

A one out double by Velvick in the seventh inning plated Richmond and Tunning, putting the Kohawks ahead 13-5.  The Rams weren't able to get a hit in the bottom half of the inning.

The Kohawks finished with 16 hits as a team, with six players recording at least two hits.  Nisenson led the way with four hits, while Richmond added three.  Four different Kohawks led the way with two RBI apiece, while five Kohawks scored two runs each.  Senior Ryan Nicholson (Downers Grove, Ill./North) earned his third win on the mound.  The southpaw threw all seven innings, striking out two, while giving up six hits.

The Kohawks tallied eight more runs on 13 hits in the nightcap, as they came away with an 8-2 win.  Richmond and Schisler led the way with four and three hits apiece.  McAllister added two hits in the win.  Richmond and Velvick combined for five RBI.  Richmond and Schisler each scored twice in the nightcap.

Junior Alec Lewis (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain) earned his fourth win on the mound.  Lewis struck out 11 in the win, while giving up six hits.

The Kohawks return to action on Friday as they travel to Simpson.  FIrst pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Indianola.
