INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Coe baseball team became the first Iowa Conference school to hit the 10 win mark Friday night with 5-1 and 7-2 wins over Simpson.  It was the fourth-straight win for the Kohawks.The Kohawks tallied 13 hits in the first game, as they rallied from a 1-0 deficient with two runs in the fifth inning and three in the seventh.  Five of the Kohawks 13 hits came in the first four innings of the game.

Trailing 1-0, the Kohawks added their first runs in the fifth inning.  With one out, freshman Max Tunning (Iowa City, Iowa/Regina) doubled.  Junior Pat Richmond (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown) added a triple to plate Tunning, tying the game at one.  Richmond then scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Ryan Schisler (Morrison, Ill./Morrison).  A two out triple by sophomore Ryan Velvick (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) left him stranded at third, as freshman Adam Nisenson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) grounded out to end the inning.

 The Kohawks broke the game open with three runs on four hits in the final frame.  Richmond led the inning off with a single up the middle.  A single through the right side by Schisler put the first two runners on base for Coe.  Velvick then doubled to plate Richmond and move Schisler to third.  A one out single by senior Tyler McAllister (Ursa, Ill./Medon-Unity) plated both Velvick and Schisler. 

Richmond finished the game 4-for-4 with two runs and a RBI.  Velvick also had a multiple hit game, as he was 3-for-4 with a run and a RBI.  McAllister added two runs.  Junior Cody Raisch (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) improved to 4-3 in seven innings on the mound.  Raisch struck out seven, while giving up just five hits.

The Kohawk bats stayed hot in the nightcap, as Coe won 7-2.  The Kohawks added 12 hits in the victory.

Coe scored early in the second game as Velvick led off the second inning with a single.  A double by Schisler plated Velvick.  After moving to third on a passed ball, Velvick was thrown out at home as McAllister reached on a fielders choice.  Simpson answered the Kohawks run in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of its own to take the lead.

The lead didn't last long for the Storm as Coe rattled off five runs in the third inning.  Sophomore Justin Svehla (Lincoln, Neb./Northeast) singled to start the inning.  After a strikeout and a fielders choice by sophomore Jeff Wagner (Geneseo, Ill./Geneseo), the Kohawks went off.  Wagner moved to second on a passed ball before scoring on a RBI single by Nisenson, whom moved to second on the throw. 

Richmond then singled up the middle to score Nisenson.  A single to right field by Velvick moved Richmond to third.  Velvick stole second before Schisler plated Velvick and Richmond with a single to center field.  Schisler advanced to second on an error by the center fielder.  Schisler then scored on a double by McAllister.  Coe only allowed two hits in the final five innings of the game.

The Kohawks added another run in the seventh inning.  Richmond led the inning off with a single through the left side.  He later scored on a passed ball.

Richmond led the Kohawks with three hits, while Velvick, Schisler and Svehla added two apiece.  Schisler had three of the Kohawks six RBIs.  Richmond and Velvick scored two runs apiece.  Freshman Sean Raisch (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) won his second game in crimson and gold in a complete game.  Raisch struck out six, while giving up just five hits and one earned run.

With forcasted rain in Indianola on Saturday, the nine-inning game between the two schools has been moved to Sunday at 1 p.m.
