WAVERLY, Iowa - The Coe College men's tennis team beat Wartburg 9-0 Friday to wrap up the Iowa Conference regular season. The Kohawks finished 17-4 overall and 4-0 in the IIAC.Freshman
Ryan King (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) earned a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Mitch Eslick at number one singles. King teamed with sophomore
Scott Stegemann (Davenport, Iowa/Central) for an 8-1 win at number two doubles. Stegemann also earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Aaron Masterson at number five singles.
At number two singles, freshman
Victor Khristenko (Orel, Russia) beat Chris Buckingham 7-5, 6-3. Khristenko teamed with senior
Joey Lankelma (Marshalltown, Iowa/Marshalltown) for an 8-2 win at number three doubles. Lankelma also earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Tom Koenen at number three singles.
Sophomore
Elliot Rausa (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus) earned a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 win over Andrew Kahler at number four doubles. Rausa teamed with senior
Sam Zerbib (Phoenix, Ariz./Arcadia) for an 8-3 win at number one doubles. Zerbib also took a 6-4, 6-4 win from Pat Mullen at number six singles.
Coe will return to action on Thursday when they participate in the Iowa Conference Championships.
