LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - After rallying for a first set win, the Kohawk doubles team of senior
Molly Fiala (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) and junior
Andrea Schupbach (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus) fell in the first round of the NCAA Championships.

Andrea Schupbach" src="/images/mug_shots/2008-09/andrea_schupbach_388_wtn.jpg" align="left" border="0">The top doubles team for the Kohawks, entering with a record of 23-8, won the first set 6-4 over Laura Chen and Ashley Herrick of Carnegie Mellon. The pair from Carnegie Mellon, the sixth-ranked team in the country, was ranked second in the Atlantic South Region entering the tournament. Fiala and Schupbach were fifth in the Central Region.

Coe trailed 2-1 early and 6-5 late in the match, but tied things up at six before dropping the second set 7-6 (5). Chen and Herrick, winners of eight of their last 10 matches, took the third set 6-2.
The Kohawk doubles team was one of just 16 teams chosen for the NCAA Championships, hosted by Oglethorpe University and the Gwinnett Sports Commission.
