CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A group of Kohawk baseball players have earned various postseason honors. In total, nine players were honored from the conference to regional level, both on the field and in the classroom. Seven Kohawks earned All-Iowa Conference honors, with three of them being named to the first team. Juniors
Cody Raisch (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) and
Pat Richmond (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown), along with senior
Tyler McAllister (Ursa, Ill./Mendon-Unity) were named to the first team. Raisch was selected as a pitch, Richmond at first base and McAllister at shortstop. McAllister also earned first team honors last season.
Coe added three more players to the second team in senior pitcher
Ryan Nicholson (Downers Grove, Ill./North), junior third baseman
Ryan Schisler (Morrison, Ill./Morrison) and freshman outfielder
Adam Nisenson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central). Nicholson was also a second team selection in 2006.
Joining the six first and second team players was sophomore
Ryan Velvick (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) at utility. Velvick was a first team selection last year.
After the third place finish in the Iowa Conference regular season, three of the Kohawks All-Iowa Conference performers earned ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region honors. Raisch and Richmond were named to the second team, while Velvick was a third team selection. Coe joined Iowa Conference Tournament Champion Wartburg with three members of the all-region team.
Schisler also earned the only CoSIDA/
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honor in the Iowa Conference. Schisler was named to the second team.
Richmond, Schisler, juniors
Josh Barber (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada) and
Jacob Schwind (Burlington, Iowa/Notre Dame) were also named to the Academic All-Iowa Conference team.
