CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Junior kicker Elliot Rausa (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus) was named to the Fred Mitchell Award Preseason Watch List Monday.  The award is given to the best kicker in NCAA Division II and III combined.

The Watch List for the Fred Mitchell Award includes 18 Division II and III collegiate place-kickers that were nominated by their colleges for excellence on the football field and in the community. The Award's Selection Committee Chairman Chris Kearney said, "These place-kickers are a very impressive group on and off the football field. They admirably represent their schools, their football teams, their communities, their families and themselves."

Fred Mitchell said, "The diversity of these fine young men is terrific and it is a pleasure to include them on the Watch List for this Award. Division II and III place-kickers seldom receive national recognition, and we are delighted to recognize them based on outstanding performance in the community and expectations going into the 2009 college football season."

Rausa has tallied 107 points so far in his career, ranking fourth best in school history.  His 10 field goals in both his freshman and sophomore year sit tied atop the school record books, while his 20 career field goals ranks third all-time.

Along with the his duties on the football team, Rausa is a member of the men's tennis and soccer teams at Coe.  He has volunteered at Waterloo's Catholic Worker House, helping with the poor and underprivilged.  He has also worked various tennis and kicking camps in Eastern Iowa.
