JOLIET, Ill. - The Coe women's tennis team improved to 2-0 with an 8-1 win over Olivet Nazarene Saturday. The Kohawks swept singles play and went 2-1 in doubles play.
Hannah Jensen (Iowa City, Iowa/West) defeated Claudia Voccu 6-3, 6-3 at number one singles, while teaming with
Megan Fiala (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) for an 8-2 win over Caitlin Dodge and Megan Ramsay at number three doubles. Fiala also earned a 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 win over Dodge at number six singles.
Senior
Andrea Schupbach (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Columbus) was a 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 winner over Erica Engelbrecht at number two singles. She then teamed with her sister,
Michelle Schupbach (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Columbus) for an 8-1 win over Voccu and Ashlan Allison at number one singles.
Michelle Schupbach was also a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Taylor Stephens at number three singles.
Katy Delagardelle (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus)was a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 winner over Allison at number four singles, but dropped an 8-4 decision at number two singles with
Sara Ohlman (Washington, Ill./Washington). Ohlman was a 6-4, 6-2 winner at number five singles.
Coe will return to action on Friday when they host Simpson. The match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Clark Racquet Center.
