CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's cross country team finished third at the Mount Mercy Mustang Gallop on Thursday, while the Kohawk women finished sixth.
Nathan Haerr (Fairfield, Iowa/Fairfield) led the way for the Kohawks with a fourth place finish in 16:02. Derek Dinderman (Palo, Iowa/Vinton-Shellsburg) joined Haerr in the top 15 with a 15th place finish in 16:35. Ryan Izer (Lawler, Iowa/Turkey Valley) was just behind Dinderman in 16th in the same time of 16:35. Nick Poff (St. Joseph, Ill./Ogden) was 28th in 17:17, while McCoy Meshach (Pacific, Mo./Pacific) was 29th in 17:17. Beau Freeborn (New Sharon, Iowa/North Mahaska) finished 31st in 17:20, while Sezar Carrillo (Joliet, Ill./Township) was behind him in 32nd with a time of 17:25.
The Kohawk men were third with an 88. Cornell took the team title with a 42, while Mount Mercy was second with a 61.
Mareena Franke (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) led the way for the Kohawk women, as she was 32nd in 16:42. McKayla Morris (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) was 36th in 16:50, while Katalina Stai (Winona, Minn./Winona) was 42nd in 16:59. Holly Wisnousky (Fairfax, Iowa/Prairie) finished in 17:43, as she placed 57th. Josie Bautch (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg) was 63rd in 18:09, while Alyssa Knudson (Hayfield, Minn./Hayfield) was 75th in 18:38. Ella Gibbons (Altona, Ill./ROWVA) rounded out the scoring for the Kohawks in 19:03, as she finished 77th.
Coe was sixth with 161 points. Cornell won with 43 points, edging Augustana by four points for the title.
The Kohawks return to action on Friday, Sept. 9, as they face Mount Mercy in the Five Seasons Dual. The women will run at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 6:30 at Morgan Creek Park in Palo.
