PALO, Iowa - Nathan Haerr (Fairfield, Iowa/Fairfield) won the men's race in the Coe-Mount Mercy dual Friday night in a meet that ended with runners crossing the line in a torrential downpour.
Haerr crossed the line in 21:18, beating Mount Mercy's Colton Forster by :18. Derek Dinderman (Palo, Iowa/Vinton-Shellsburg) was sixth in a time of 22:26, while Ryan Izer (Lawler, Iowa/Turkey Valley) crossed in 22:31 for a seventh place finish.
McCoy Meshach (Pacific, Mo./Pacific) was ninth in 23:01, while Nick Poff (St. Joseph, Ill./Ogden) joined him in the top 10 with a 10th place finish in 23:11. Ben Nelson (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) finished 11th in 23:13, while Sezar Carrillo (Joliet, Ill./Township) was 12th in 23:15 to round out the scoring for the Kohawks.
The Coe men finished with 33 points, while the Mustangs won with 22 points.
Mareena Franke (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) led the way for the Kohawks with an eighth place finish in 20:44. McKayla Morris (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) finished 10th in 21:02, while Katalina Stai (Winona, Minn./Winona) was 11th in 21:06.
Holly Wisnousky (Fairfax, Iowa/Prairie) was 12th in 21:13, while Maddie Bain (Kingsley, Iowa/Woodbury Central) was 14th in 21:53. Alyssa Knudson (Hayfield, Minn./Hayfield) had a 16th place finish in 22:47, while Jean Springsteen (Lisbon, Iowa/Lisbon) rounded out the Kohawk lineup with an 18th place finish in 23:29.
Mount Mercy won with 15 points, while the Kohawks had 50.
The Kohawks return to action on Sept. 23, as they travel to the Brissman-Lundeen Invite. The women's meet is scheduled to start at 3 p.m., with the men following at 3:45 p.m. in Rock Island, Ill.
