MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Coe women's tennis team won its eighth-straight match of the regular season with an 8-1 win over Cornell.  With the win, the Kohawks finish the IIAC portion of their schedule with a 5-0 record.Junior Hannah Jensen (Iowa City, Iowa/West) improved to 10-1 overall with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Samantha De Gannes at number one singles.  She also teamed with Megan Fiala (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) for an 8-4 win at number three doubles over De Gannes and Amanda Johnson.  Fiala won her number six singles match 6-1, 6-2 over Devin Harmon.

Sisters Andrea and Michelle Schupbach (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Columbus) continued their hot play with an 8-3 win over Caryl Abeyta and Kirsten Lasley at number one doubles.  The win improved the Schupbach's record to 10-1 on the year and 8-0 in dual meets.  Andrea Schupbach was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Abeyta at number two singles, while Michelle Schupbach was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Alyssa Zavislak at number four singles.

Senior Hillary Allen (Ft. Collins, Colo./Ft. Collins) and freshman Sara Ohlman (Washington, Ill./Washington) rounded out the Kohawks victory with wins at number three and five singles.  Allen was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Lasley, while Ohlman defeated Kara Middleton 6-2, 7-5.

The Kohawks return to action Oct. 9 when they travel to Iowa City for the Iowa Conference team championships.
