SAINT PETER, Minn. - Junior Haley Resnick (Bettendorf, Iowa/Assumption) and sophomore Lauren French (Raleigh, N.C./North Raleigh Christian) have advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Midwest Regional doubles bracket.
Both Resnick and French opened the day with a pair of tough singles losses. Resnick fell 6-2, 6-1 to top-seeded Megan Humphreys of Wisconsin-Whitewater, while French dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to third-seeded Bridget Bellissimo of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
The pair bounced back in doubles play to advance to Sunday's semifinal. After a first round bye, Resnick and French beat Gustavus' Katie Aney and Lilly Hartman 8-4. In the third round, the Coe duo downed St. Olaf's Margaret Zimmerman and Erin McDonald 8-1. Resnick and French faced fourth-seeded Jillian Wallace and Alicia Beck of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the quarterfinals. The Kohawk pair earned a 9-8 (7) win to advance to the final day.
On Sunday morning, Resnick and French will face second-seeded Max Mella and Angelica Emmanouil of Carthage in the semifinals.
