WAVERLY, Iowa - Four Kohawks earned a pair of victories Wednesday, as the Coe College women's tennis team earned an 8-1 win over Wartburg.
The Kohawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. At number one doubles, Haley Resnick (Bettendorf, Iowa/Assumption) and Lauren French (Raleigh, N.C./North Raleigh Christian) beat Lauren O'Brian and Lexi Schmitz 8-1. Sarah Lasecki (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) and Kaitlin Fosler (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) were 8-3 winners over Alexis Kemp and Alex Peterson at number two doubles. The final doubles win came at number three, as Tory Montoya and Laura Gibson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Gibson Academy) beat Allie Burnbaum and Rachel Rigdon 8-3.
At number one singles, Resnick downed Peterson 6-0, 6-0, while French was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over O'Brian at number two singles. French improved to 9-1 in her last 10 matches with the win. Lasecki also picked up her ninth win in the last 10 matches with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Schmitz at number three singles. Fosler was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Kemp at number four singles, while Ella White (Roseville, Minn./St. Anthony Village) earned Coe's final win with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Gabby Olejniczak at number six singles.
The Kohawks (7-1, 5-1 IIAC) have their final two duals of the fall season on Saturday. Coe will face Buena Vista at 9 a.m. and Nebraska Wesleyan at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Clark Racquet Center.
