CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Junior Haley Resnick (Bettendorf, Iowa/Assumption) and sophomore Lauren French (Raleigh, N.C./North Raleigh Christian) were named the Iowa Conference Women's Tennis Players of the Week.
At last week's ITA Midwest Regional, Resnick and French advanced to the finals of the doubles bracket. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater's Alicia Beck and Jillian Wallace, the defending tournament champions. In the semifinals, they took down second-seeded Max Mella and Angelica Emmanouil of Carthage 8-5. In the championship match, they dropped a 7-6, 6-0 decision to the top-seeded team of Megan Humphreys and Gabi Kitchell of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
In singles play, both Resnick and French advanced to the round of 16 before being knocked out by the number one and three seeds.
The Kohawks (7-1, 5-1 IIAC) wrap up the fall dual season this weekend as they host Buena Vista (0-13, 0-6 IIAC) at 9 a.m. and Nebraska Wesleyan (1-5, 1-4 IIAC) at 2 p.m. at the Clark Racquet Center. The following weekend, the Kohawks travel to Waterloo for the Iowa Conference Singles and Doubles Championships.
