CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Senior Erin Lang (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) shot a 76 Saturday in the second round of the Iowa Conference Championships, setting a new school record in the process.
After shooting a 90 in the first round, Lang fired a 76 on Saturday. Her score broke the school record set by Angela Meisterling of 77 in 2007. Lang is now tied for 12th with a 166 for the two rounds. Colleen Zuk (Kansas City, Mo./Bishop Miege) shot an 84 on Saturday, the second-lowest score by a Kohawk this season behind Lang's record today. Zuk is in 22nd with a 175 for the two rounds.
Jade Hess (Fonda, Iowa/Newell-Fonda) is tied for 26th after shooting a 91 on Saturday. Hess has an 181 for the two rounds. Chloe Crain (Indianola, Iowa/Indianola) cut three strokes off her first round score, as she is in 33rd with a 191 for the two rounds after shooting a 94 on Saturday. Bethany Lehman (Plainfield, Iowa/Nashua Plainfield) cut two strokes off her first round, as her 95 on Saturday gives her a 192 for the weekend. Lehman is tied for 34th after the first weekend.
Coe is currently in sixth after the first weekend with a 713 after shooting a season-low 345 on Saturday. The Kohawks trail Simpson by 14 strokes for fifth, while holding a 19 stroke lead on Loras for seventh. Wartburg leads the team race with a 628, while Wartburg's Rochelle Beardsley and Brooke Klostermann are tied for first with a 146 each.
The final two rounds of the championships will take place next Friday and Saturday at Prairie Links Golf Course in Waverly. Play resumes at 10 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday.
