WARRENVILLE, Ill. - The Coe College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Eagle Invite Friday, hosted by Benedictine University.
Nathan Haerr (Fairfield, Iowa/Fairfield) led the way for the Kohawks, as he finished 13th in 27:13.2. Ryan Izer (Lawler, Iowa/Turkey Valley) also earned a top 30 spot, as he was 27th in 27:32.3. Derek Dinderman (Palo, Iowa/Vinton-Shellsburg) was 39th in 27:56.0, while Beau Freeborn (New Sharon, Iowa/North Mahaska) was 61st in 28:45.5. Orie Brown (Belle Plaine, Iowa/Belle Plaine) and Ben Nelson (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) were back-to-back in 63rd and 64th, with Brown finishing in 28:47.8 and Nelson crossing in 28:54.5.
The Kohawks were sixth as a team with 175 points, just nine points behind Benedictine. North Central won with 50 points, while holding a 30 point lead over Lake Forest. North Central's Nick Licari was first in 26:27.9.
Mareena Franke (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) led the way for the Kohawk women, as she finished 38th in 25:13.4. McKayla Morris (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) also earned a top 50 finish, as she crossed in 25:21.7 to finish 42nd. Maddie Bain (Kingsley, Iowa/Woodbury Central) crossed in 25:57.4 to finish 67th, while Holly Wisnousky (Fairfax, Iowa/Prairie) was 84th in 26:21.2.Katalina Stai (Winona, Minn./Winona) was 90th in 26:28.6.
The Kohawk women were 10th with 256 points. Augustana won the team race with 71 points, edging Concordia (Wis.) by five points. Harper's Ali Gutt won the individual title in 22:45.0.
Coe returns to action on Friday, as they travel to the Dr. Tucker Invite in Dubuque. The women will run at 4:30 p.m., with the men to follow at 5:15 p.m.
