CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's soccer team raced out to a 1-0 lead on Saturday, but four second half goals by Nebraska Wesleyan sent the Prairie Wolves to victory.
In the 15th minute, Bobby Charlton (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar) scored his third goal of the year from 10 yards out on the left side to give Coe a 1-0 lead. The Kohawks took the lead into the second half before Drew Miller scored from just outside the net in the 61st minute to tie the match. Just over a minute later, Rex Carrell found Nick Kreski for his seventh goal of the year, as the Prairie Wolves took a 2-1 lead. Carrell assisted on another goal in the 78th minute, as Miller scored for the second time in the match. The final goal came in the 89th minute, as Will Weber passed to Josh Tompson for his first goal of the year.
Charlton, Shuto Miyagi (Japan/Waseda University), Mitch Renwick (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) and Lucas Shatzer (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) each had a shot for the Kohawks. The Prairie Wolves held a 13-4 advantage in shots. Alec Balta (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) dropped to 0-8 on the year in the net, giving up four goals while recording a pair of saves.
The Kohawks (1-10, 0-3 IIAC) return to action on Tuesday, as they travel to Simpson (7-6-1, 2-2 IIAC). The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Indianola. A link for live video and stats will be available at CoeAthletics.com.
