CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College Kohawks came away with a 3-0 win over Westminster Thursday night in the final volleyball match played at Eby Fieldhouse.
Next season, the Kohawks will begin play in the new Coe College Athletic and Performance Arena next to Eby Fieldhouse. Coe came out firing to start the finale, connecting on 15 kills and hitting .464 in a 25-14 first set victory. Coe won the second set 25-18 behind 12 kills. The Kohawks closed the match just like they started, hitting .393 in a 25-14 victory. Coe's .398 hitting percentage for the match was the seventh-best in school history.
Lindsey Koch (Hudson, Iowa/Hudson) led the Kohawks with 13 kills, as she hit .310. Olivia Leisinger (Council Bluffs, Iowa/Lincoln), Jaimee Rindy (Gypsum, Colo./Eagle Valley) and Hanna Reese (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) each had six kills. Leisinger hit .500, Rindy hit .545 and Reese hit .857 in the win. Reese had a match-high 29 assists, while Koch added three. Koch, Reese and Victoria Hartman each had two service aces, tying a career-high for Hartman. Ali Arns (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) had a match-high 17 digs, while Madi Miller (Coralville, Iowa/West) joined her in double figures with 12. Koch added five digs. Rindy had five block assists, while Aryn Meisinger (Gothenburg, Neb./Gothenburg) and Marley Patrick (Moline, Ill./Moline) each had two block assists.
The Kohawks (17-8) return to action on Friday, as they travel to 11th-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater (18-5). The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. in Whitewater, Wis. A link for live stats is available at CoeAthletics.com.
