STORM LAKE, Iowa - Coe College won the first two sets Friday night against Buena Vista, but the Beavers stormed back to win the final three sets for a 3-2 win in Iowa Conference volleyball action.
The first set was back-and-forth, with the Kohawks coming away with a 30-28 victory. It was all Coe in the second set, as Coe hit a match-high .433 with 16 kills in a 25-17 victory. Buena Vista connected for 15 kills in the third set, as the Beavers won 25-15. Coe hit .025 in the fourth set, as Buena Vista forced a fifth and final set with a 25-13 victory. The Kohawks struggled in the final set, hitting -.037 in a 15-9 loss.
Lindsey Koch (Hudson, Iowa/Hudson) led the Kohawks with 13 kills, while Olivia Leisinger (Council Bluffs, Iowa/Lincoln) joined her in double figures with 10. Jaimee Rindy (Gypsum, Colo./Eagle Valley) added nine kills, while Marley Patrick (Moline, Ill./Moline) had eight off the bench. Hanna Reese (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) had 42 assists, while Aryn Meisinger (Gothenburg, Neb./Gothenburg) had a pair of assists. Madi Miller (Coralville, Iowa/West) had a match-high 27 digs, while Meisinger had 19. Koch had a double-double with 14 digs, while Ali Arns (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) added 12 digs. Leisinger had a match-high five block assists, while Rindy and Patrick each had three. Reese added a pair of block assists.
With 12 digs, Arns moved into seventh in school history with 1,132 career digs. Rindy moved into ninth in single-season school history with her 76th block assist of the season.
The Kohawks (17-10, 4-3 IIAC) wrap up Iowa Conference play on Saturday, as they travel to Nebraska Wesleyan (12-10, 4-2 IIAC). Coe clinched a berth in the Iowa Conference Tournament on Friday and can lock up the number three seed in the tournament with a win over the Prairie Wolves.
