LINCOLN,Neb. - The Coe College volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, as the Kohawks locked up the three seed in the Iowa Conference Tournament.
After a late-night drive to Lincoln following a five-set match against Buena Vista on Friday night, the Kohawks came out firing in the first set. Coe hit. 278 in the opening frame, as Coe won 25-19. The Kohawks improved on that in the second, as the Kohawks had 15 kills and hit .294 in a 25-18 victory. Coe beat the Prairie Wolves 25-22 in the final set for the victory.
Lindsey Koch (Hudson, Iowa/Hudson) led the Kohawks with 11 kills, as she hit a career-best .417. Marley Patrick (Moline, Ill./Moline) had nine kills, while Aryn Meisinger (Gothenburg, Neb./Gothenburg) had eight. Olivia Leisinger (Council Bluffs, Iowa/Lincoln) added six kills. Hanna Reese (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) had 31 assists, as she became the seventh player in school history to surpass 1,000 career assists. Reese now sits sixth in school history with 1,021. Meisinger had four assists, while Madi Miller (Coralville, Iowa/West) had three. Reese had three service aces, while Leisinger and Miller each had a pair. Reese had a double-double with a team-high 15 digs. Miller added 13 digs, while Ali Arns (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) and Meisinger each had 11 digs.
The Kohawks (18-10, 5-3 IIAC) return to action on Friday, as they face Rockford (1-21) at the Augustana Invitational. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Rock Island, Ill.
