STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Coe College cross country teams competed at the Iowa Conference Championships on Saturday. Both Kohawk teams finished eighth.
Mareena Franke (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) led the Kohawk women with a 41st place finish, as she crossed in a season-best 24:36.9. McKayla Morris (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) was 67th overall, as she finished in 25:22.3. Maddie Bain (Kingsley, Iowa/Woodbury Central) crossed in 25:51.8 to finish 82nd, while Katalina Stai (Winona, Minn./Winona) was 84th in 25:55.0. Holly Wisnousky (Fairfax, Iowa/Prairie) rounded out the scoring for the Kohawks, as she was 109th in 27:05.1.
The Kohawk women finished eighth with 243 points. Nebraska Wesleyan won with a score of 40. Loras' Audrey Miller took home the individual title in 21:43.9.
Nathan Haerr (Fairfield, Iowa/Fairfield) was the first to cross for the Kohawk men, as he was 43rd in a season-best 26:56.8. Derek Dinderman (Palo, Iowa/Vinton-Shellsburg) was 73rd in 27:36.1, while Ryan Izer (Lawler, Iowa/Turkey Valley) was 75th in 27:38.5. Orie Brown (Belle Plaine, Iowa/Belle Plaine) was 78th in 27:42.8, while Beau Freeborn (New Sharon, Iowa/North Mahaska) rounded out the scoring in 90th place with a time of 28:02.9.
Coe's men finished eighth with 230 points. Loras won the team title with 67 points. Luther's Isaac Jensen won the individual title in a time of 25:00.1.
The Kohawks return to action on Nov. 12, as they compete in the NCAA Regional Championships in Northfield, Minn.The women will run at 11 a.m., followed by the men at 11:45 a.m.
