CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College wrestling team won four titles on Saturday at the Coe Turkey Invite.
Coe's first title came at 125 pounds, as freshman Brady Wilsie (Byron, Ill./Byron) went 4-0 to capture the title. Wilsie won two of his matches by fall, including a first period fall against Grand View's Joel Timmons in the finals. Jan Rosenberg (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) went 3-2 at 125 pounds, as he finished fourth. Rosenberg won a pair of matches by fall and another by major decision. Fletcher Green (Washington, Iowa/Washington) went 3-2 at 133 pounds, as he finished fifth. Green earned a pair of victories by 15-0 and 16-0 technical fall.
Trey Schuler (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) went 4-1 at 141 pounds, as he finished third. Schuler earned a win by fall and another by major decision before beating teammate Levi Azinger (Pella, Iowa/Pella) 4-3 in the third-place match. Azinger was 3-2 on the day with a pair of major decisions. Romello Hidalgo-Monjaras (Concord, Calif./College Park) lost by fall in the first round before rattling off five-straight victories to finish third. His first win was by major decision before winning by fall in the next four.
At 157 pounds, Nate Olsen finished second after losing by injury default in the championship match. Olsen earned a pair of wins by fall and technical fall en route to the finals. Ryan Harrington (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) went 4-2 at 165 pounds, as he lost by injury default in the third-place match. Harrington earned a win by fall and technical fall on the day. Cody Fritz (Solon, Iowa/Solon) finished fifth at 165 pounds, going 4-2 with a major decision and a fall on the day.
Jake Voss (Ryan, Iowa/West Delaware) won the title at 174 pounds. Voss advanced to the finals with back-to-back first period falls before winning 7-3 in the semifinals. Voss won by injury default in the championship match. Josh Edel (Marshalltown, Iowa/Marshalltown) went 4-2 at 174 pounds, as he finished fifth with a fall and major decision. Taylor Mehmen (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Prairie) won the title at 184 pounds. Mehmen opened the day with a 14-4 major decision and a fall in 1:17 in the quarterfinals.
It was an all Kohawk final at 197 pounds, as Andrew Holladay (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) defeated Josh Allen (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) 5-4. Holladay advanced to the finals with a fall, and two technical falls. Allen won a tight 4-3 match in the first round before earning a pair of falls in his next two matches. Jordan Challis (Tipton, Iowa/Tipton) also placed at 197 pounds, as he was fourth. Challis was 3-2, earning a win by fall and major decision on the day. At heavyweight, Brennan Koerperich (Epworth, Iowa/Western Dubuque) was 4-1 for a third place finish. Koerperich opened the day with a major decision before winning his final two matches.
The 12th-ranked Kohawks return to action on Dec. 7, as they travel to Buena Vista. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Storm Lake.
