CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Junior Ali Arns (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.
Arns and Loras' Haley Bergan are the only two selections from the Iowa Conference. Arns is a Mathematics major.
Arns finished the season with 434 digs, averaging 3.47 digs per set. She ranked 14th in school history in digs on the season. Arns also had a career-best nine kills against Concordia and a career-high five service aces against Lakeland.
Entering her senior season, Arns ranks fourth in school history in service attempts (1,229) and sixth in digs (1,211). She also ranked 11th in digs per set (3.15) and 15th in service aces (82).
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have the proper athletic accomplishments to be placed on the ballot. The 2016-17 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Volleyball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Arns is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-American team, which will be released on Dec. 6.
