CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Freshman Katie Freeland (Dysart, Iowa/Union) has been named the Iowa Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week for her performance at the Grinnell Invite.
Freeland helped the Kohawks to a third place finish in the 12-team field at the Grinnell Invite with 424 points. Freeland finished in the top 15 in all eight events she competed in, including five top-five finishes. Freeland was fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:35.26, the fifth best time in the Liberal Arts this year and the fifth best time in school history. She was also part of Coe's second-place 800-yard freestyle relay team that had the fourth best time in the Liberal Arts this year at 8:27.06.
Coe's 200-yard medley relay team was third in 1:54.59, the fifth-best time in school history. Freeland was fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.80, the fourth-best time in school history and fifth-best time in the Liberal Arts this year.
The Kohawks return to action on Saturday, as they travel to Luther. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Decorah.
