WAVERLY, Iowa - Top-ranked Wartburg won eight matches Friday night, as the Knights beat 23rd-ranked Coe College 32-6 at Levick Arena.
The Kohawks got off to a great start, as senior Jan Rosenberg (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) knocked off sixth-ranked Arnulfo Olea 12-10 at 125 pounds. Rosenberg improved to 18-6 on the year with his seventh-straight victory. Coe dropped a close one at 133 pounds, as Connor Campo notched a takedown with :01 left to beat Fletcher Green (Washington, Iowa/Washington) 8-6. Fourth-ranked Cross Cannone was an 8-3 winner over Levi Azinger (Pella, Iowa/Pella) at 141 pounds.
Wartburg put together back-to-back falls at 149 and 157 pounds, starting with top-ranked Kenny Martin's fall in 2:08 against Romello Hidalgo-Monjaras (Concord, Calif./College Park). Second-ranked Logan Thomsen followed that with a fall over Cody Fritz (Solon, Iowa/Solon) in 2:32. Third-ranked Andrew Steiert beat Ryan Harrington (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) by 10-1 major decision at 165 pounds. Brady Meyer scored late to knock-off seventh-ranked Jake Voss (Ryan, Iowa/West Delaware) at 174 pounds. The loss snapped Voss' nine-match winning streak.
Coe's final win came at 184 pounds, as Taylor Mehmen (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Prairie) beat fifth-ranked Bryan Levsen 3-1. Mehmen improved to 23-7 with the victory. Second-ranked Kyle Fank won by 11-2 major decision at 197 pounds before second-ranked Lance Evans beat Garrett Kelson (Danvers, Ill./Olympia) 7-0 at 285 pounds.
The 23rd-ranked Kohawks return to action on Thursday, as they host 11th-ranked Cornell. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Eby Fieldhouse.
