CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - For the second-straight year, senior Matt Vonderhaar (Bettendorf, Iowa/Assumption) and junior Matt Meyer (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City) have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.
The Kohawk pair were among four Iowa Conference players selected to the five-player team. Nebraska Wesleyan's Cooper Cook and Central's Colby Taylor were also selected.
Vonderhaar, a Public Accounting and Business Administration major, is averaging 11.8 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game, the highest rebound average in his career. His 30.5 minutes played per game this year ranks 11th in school history. He currently ranks ninth in school history with 135 career 3-pointers, while also ranking ninth with 329 defensive rebounds. His 73 career starts are the 11th most in school history.
Meyer, a Biology and Neuroscience major, is averaging 8.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, career-best for rebound average. Meyer is also shooting a career-best 45.2 percent from the field. Meyer had a career-best eight rebounds at Lake Forest earlier this year, while also having a career-high five assists against Cornell this season.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have the proper athletic accomplishments to be placed on the ballot. The 2016-17 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Lehman is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-American team, which will be released on Feb. 28.
